We are a small, specialist team that has spent the last eight years getting to know the surveying and civil engineering community in the UK. We work with the same clients and candidates year after year because we listen properly, brief honestly, and only put forward people we’d be happy to work with ourselves.
We don’t use job boards to chase volume. We don’t have a hundred desks covering everything. We have one desk, five sectors, and a genuine understanding of what good looks like in each of them.

We’ve built our reputation on doing a small number of things well, rather than a large number of things adequately. Here’s what that means in practice.
Honest briefing
We take time to understand a role before we fill it. That means asking the questions other agencies skip - about culture, pace, package expectations and the real reasons a position is open.
No CV spam
We never send a CV without speaking to the candidate first. We never forward someone’s details without their knowledge. Every submission is deliberate and represents a genuine recommendation.
Long relationships
Most of our clients have worked with us for three or more years. Most of our candidates come back to us when they move again. We treat every placement as the start of a relationship, not the end of a transaction.

Mike founded MGR in 2018 after a decade working in the geospatial and civil engineering sectors. He set up the business with a clear brief: to do specialist recruitment properly, without the high-volume, scatter-gun approach that characterises so much of the industry. He works across all five sectors and manages the majority of senior permanent briefs personally.
